Pyrolytic self-cleaning
Keep young children away from the appliance during the pyrolytic
self-cleaning process, as the outside of the cooker may become hot.
This process is the most effective appliance self-cleaning cycle in Europe, and was introduced
by Scholtès more than thirty years ago.
It does away entirely with the need to clean the oven manually. In fact, the oven cleans itself
completely, without the need for intervention or surveillance, and without the use of any detergents
whatsoever. Grease and food particles stuck to the inside surface of the oven are destroyed by
the very high temperatures of the pyrolytic cycle.
Avoid using abrasive products as these could scratch and damage the enamel coating inside
the oven.
Precautions to be taken before performing the pyrolytic self-cleaning process
1- Remove the toughest grease and food spots and especially all substantial spills to avoid
the risk of fire or smoke.
2 - Remove all the accessories from the oven (dripping pans, baking trays, grids, rotisserie
assembly).
3 - Do not place tea towels on the oven handle to dry.

The pyrolytic self-cleaning cycle begins, and should last 1h30 minutes.
You can adjust the cycle time from one minute to two hours, one minute at a time, depending on
the degree of soil of your oven (see paragraph on setting a cooking time on page 21).
